A four day weekend, and a Royal wedding appeared to be just what bingo operators were looking for. Many people sat at home watching the television and an extended weekend of business. Many online bingo rooms expected this to be a bumper bingo weekend and had targeted promotions specifically for this.

However it appears that not everything went to plan. The BBC reported that over 24million people tuned in to watch the royal wedding in the UK alone, and an estimated 2billion viewers worldwide. There were also 1million people that made the trip to London to witness the wedding first hand.

Online bingo sites had pushed the 29th with some very generous promotions  to try and attract what was expected to be a high level of demand for online bingo,  expecting bingo players to be rushing to their computers but it seems they got it wrong.

If things weren’t bad enough for the bingo sites, having not grabbed players attention on the Saturday, the news from the US  on Sunday night that American special forces had captured and killed the world most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden, had thousands of potential customers glued to the news channels.

The weekend is over and people are going back to work. Topics they may be discussing with workmates, will most surely be the Wedding, perhaps even Bin Laden’s death, but we suspect that a few will still be telling their friends about the win they had at the weekend on their favourite bingo room.
