The public house chain, JD Wetherspoon have abandoned plans in which they were to redevelop a former bingo club into one of its outlets.

Wetherspoon’s had initially bought the former bingo club in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, and had obtained planning permission for the development, with both residents and the local council being in support of the idea as the building would receive some much needed investment.

It was only two years ago that Wetherspoon’s lodged their application to convert the former Savoy bingo club situated at 52-58 Main Street into a licensed premises.

A spokesman for the pub chain commented “We can confirm that the building is up for sale, when Wetherspoon’s purchased it two or three years back, the sole intention was to develop into a pub, but the company have now decided not to proceed. We do not wish to develop it now and as a result we are place the building up for sale”
