Research shows that an average of two UK bingo halls are closing down every month.

According to the research provided by Ernst and Young, it appears that in the last five years we have lost more than 150 of the reported 678 bingo halls operating in the UK. 25 of those closures have happened in the last 12 months alone, and the increase in bingo hall closures does not look like slowing down.

Those clubs still operating are doing so on a very tight budget with reports that most are drawing less than 1000 players a week. It is expected that we will see many more closures in the remainder of this year. Not good news for live bingo lovers.

Online Bingo really started taking off in the UK five years ago and clubs like Mecca Bingo online and Gala Bingo online were quickly onto the trend and became leaders in development and customer service.. These clubs may now be glad they did, as with the smoking ban bingo clubs saw players leaving in their droves, preferring to play at home instead.

If you like the online game, but also enjoy your local bingo hall, you may want to visit once in a while, or when you do come to visit your local bingo hall next time, it may not be there.
